In 1929, Irish designer Eileen Gray created E.1027 on the sun-soaked Côte d’Azur – a bold and hidden gem of avant-garde architecture. This striking house was meant to be a personal refuge.

But when the legendary architect Le Corbusier stumbled upon it, fascination turned to obsession. He covered its walls with his murals, completely disregarding Gray’s wishes and her vision.

This defiant act ignited a battle for creative control, with Gray demanding restitution for the destruction of her work. Le Corbusier ignored her wishes and instead built his famous Cabanon house directly behind E.1027.

E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House By the Sea is an unusual hybrid docu-fiction film that tells a story about the power of one woman’s creative expression and a man’s desire to control it.

BEATRICE MINGER is a writer and director based in Zurich. She studied Film, German Studies and Modern History in Zurich, Berlin and Lausanne. After graduating, she worked as Assistant Director and Script Supervisor on various projects and directs short films and video clips. In 2018 her art book HIER SASS ER was published. Her short films LOVE A LITTLE (2018) and I FEEL MORE LIKE A STRANGER (2021) have been screened in international short film festivals.

The hybrid cinema documentary E.1027 (2024), is her debut long feature. Her first feature-length fiction film UNDERCURRENTS is currently in development.

CHRISTOPH SCHAUB makes documentary and feature films, including STILLE LIEBE, JEUNE HOMME, HAPPY NEW YEAR or GIULIAS VERSCHWINDEN, that have won numerous national and international awards. films like ‘IL GIRASOLE - una casa vicino a Verona’, ‘BIRD’S Nest - Herzog & De Meron in China’, ‘ARCHITECTURE OF INFINITY’
specialising on architectural topics and urban themes. His films have been distributed internationally and widely recognised by audiences and experts alike.

Christoph Schaub is a member of the Swiss Film Academy, the European Film Academy (EFA) and the Asian Pacific
Screen Academy (APSA).
